Surrealist Tea!

A new term has now begun and while we wait for the artworks of 2010/11 to get underway, SCC Art has delved into its archives and uncovered some gems! This piece of work was completed almost two years ago by the then Form IV pupil James Bowlby. It is rather reminisent of Meret Oppenheim's fur- lined tea cup produced in 1936. Granted James's teapot is a lot less surreal given that he has used good old tea bags to decorate his tea pot; not as 'out there' as drinking from a cup made of fur (yuk!). However it is somewhat surreal to think that one could possibly contain a pot of tea brewed in a pot made of just bags! It is certainly a humorous little sculpture!
