Master Class in Figurative Drawing

Tomorrow morning Una Sealy will spend the moring in the art room demonstrating her drawing skills and assisting our pupils in developing their own life drawing skills. Una Sealy is a well known figurative painter and we are lucky enough have her as our guest judge at our annual art exhibition and art prize eveing later this term. Life Drawing

Life sketching is an integral part of the Leaving Certificate curriculum. Form VI pupils take time once a week to practise this section of the curriculum to ensure they do not lose momentum.  Posted today are examples of some gesture drawing by Ciara O Byrne and Henry Roe.

Form VI continues to practice life drawing. Today they worked on gesture and contour drawings. The objective of these short studies is to capture the gesture of the figure. By carefully studying the model, to the point were pupils must not even look at the page upon which they draw, pupils are forced to render what they see  therefore reproducing the gesture that the figure is making.

Form V have been practising Life Drawing which accounts for just under 13% of the over-all Leaving Certificate Art Exam.

 The following drawings are by Kim Jennings, Philippa von Erdmannsdorff and Henry Roe.
