Summer Concert Poster Competition

Congratulations to Imogen Wardell in  Form V who won the Summer Concert Poster Competition! The Summer Music Concert will be held on May 22nd at 8pm. All entries will be posted in the coming days.  Well done to all pupils who entered a poster design.

Leaving Certificate Craft Exam 2010

The Leaving Certificate Craft Exam was held yesterday and the pupils in Form VI certainly appeared to be performing well as evidenced by the pictures posted here today. These photographs represent  a small selection of the works in progress with the final glaze firing happening sometime in the next ten days or so (once drying and the initial bisque firing has taken place). Well done to all Art pupils in Form VI and continued good luck for today's drawing exams.

Graffiti

The Form II print project which used the Art of Graffiti as a staring point is almost completed. The process can be viewed in the photos below.  Firstly the pupils designed their image for printing using a word. They were required to use four colours in their design. This was then transfered onto the lino (in reverse)  which becomes the Master Print block. As  each colour is printed,  that area is then cut away allowing the next colour to be printed. Matt Brooke (whose work is posted here) chose the word 'RATZ'.

Art Exams

Art Exams begin today, Wednesday 12th of May. First up is the Junior Cert Drawing Exams today.  Following them will be the Leaving Certificate Craft Exam all day tomorrow and then the Still- Life Composition and Life-Drawing on Friday. SCC Art wishes all pupils the best of luck with these important exams.
