Patterns

Inspired by the work of Gustav Klimt, Dena Al Hamden in Form VI Q set began preparing a design today which will be suitable for glass painting. The strong sense of colour and pattern in Klimt's work proved to be an excellent staring point for Dena who used her natural flair for creating organic rhythms and patterns to begin work on the design process. Luckily enough we have plenty of primary source material relating to stained glass here at the College which can also be used as observation material to help inform her decisions about colour and shape.

Still Life

The Form V Q set has started the year by looking at still life compositions. A still life is a composition of inanimate subjects typically comprising various commonplace objects. The Q set looked at some of the still lifes painted by the Dutch Masters, Cézanne and of course Salvador Dali's 'Living Still Life'. However it is the more modern still life images which caught the pupils' attention and has provided the inspiration for the work which they began in class today.

Posted below are paintings by the American artist Dennis Wojtkiewicz, The light and translucence along with amazing attention to detail make these oil paintings truly remarkable.
